I'm a bit late to this seeing as it's 6 PM where I am as I'm writing this post, but the Japanese release of Sonic Adventure occurred today 20 years ago.
If you have any thoughts or anecdotes on this matter feel free to share them here.

one more year and sonic adventure can drink alcohol in the USA

aside from that, i've got nothing to add to its 20th. congrats? honestly its such a shame that it gets ragged on for buggyness but a game like super mario 64 had galactic and dimensional glitches but gets a pass because of nintendo forgiveness.

20+ years old and his life is apparently over, guess he's a millennial like me...

Sonic Adventure, flaws or not, was a great childhood game, though.

It's remarkable timing that I happened to be playing through SA again.

We'll never forget you Gamma.

Hi. In respect of the original release of SA1, I'd like to ask why Sonic's motion blur feet were removed from every single subsequent version of the game, even the western Dreamcast releases.

Thank you.

Sonic adventure is a fun game that offers a variety of game modes most of which are still platformers. I like replaying levels to see how high a score I can get based on rings, time, etc. The hub world offers a nice breather between stages as well as a sense of home and setting where everything takes place plus you can also explore them and collect emblems.

Basically it was a pretty packaged experience.

And then SEGA made a port where they just kinda...kept doing things to it that muddied the original vision (mostly aesthetically). Yeah why DID they remove the motion blur feet? Why do they do anything? Some things we may never know.
